Iannis Lake is a fishery that includes a main lake for carp fishing and a series of adjacent ponds for fish farming. The complex is located in Bihor county, Romania, 35km from Oradea.

Iannis Lake is a unique project in Romania. It was dug from scratch between 2017 and 2018 and has a rectangular symmetrical shape. It was designed to give anglers the same options in terms of depths and structures as well as fishing distances. The lake was stocked in autumn 2018 with approximately 4000 carp. The average weight was 7kg. The biggest specimens in the initial stocking were 52 carp from 15kg to 20.3kg. The lake was opened for business in May 2019.

Currently, the lake stock includes approximately 480 carp over 20kg, of which 110 carp over 25kg, plus another sixteen carp over 30kg. The lake record is a 36.3kg common caught in May 2024.

– sixteen different carp over 30kg; the current lake record weighs 36,3kg

– 455 different carp over 20kg, 90 specimens over 25kg

There are also about 250 grass carp from 13kg to 26kg in the lake.

Iannis Lake has an area of 24ha with depths ranging from 1.6m in the near margins to 3.3m in the middle. Adding to the geometrical shape, 13 large islands were built along the lake’s axis to form natural markers and separate the fishing areas for each swim. The islands also provide hot spots for fishing. The lake has 18 wide, gravel-lined swims which were built on opposite banks and are ideal for camping. Depths, distances and underwater structures are similar for each swim.

Facilities: electricity in each swim; toilets and showers.
